I would like to share a story with anyone who is interested. About a Mercury Mountaineer I used to own.
It all started with me going into a Mercury dealer and handing them the keys to my 1992 Mercury Sable ( I think it was a GS trim level) and taking the keys to a brand new Mercury Mountaineer V8, AWD. I think this car had every option available at the time I bought it leather, moonroof, 6cd changer, 3rd row, dvd and etc... I loved the way it drove and how well it did in the snow. This truck was babied from the day I took it off the dealers lot. I had the oil done every 3k miles, the fluids were all changed every 25k miles and throughout the time I had it the only things I did to it outside of regular maintenance was had the sway bar bushings replaced and the passenger side door lock actuator replaced. It did not give me any major problems nor did it act up. In return I always made sure it was washed once a week and I hand waxed it every 3rd or 4th wash. I was sold, I was ready to trade it in and get a new Mountaineer Premier VOGA V8 (I think that is what the package was called) ironically It was the same month that Ford announced that Mercury was going to be shut down. So I decided not to buy it because I had no clue as to what would happen down the road and if I needed parts 5 years from now and etc... So I bought a vehicle of another brand. But the thing which really made me upset is my Mountaineer was bought by someone I know and they did not take care of it and last week my babied Black Raven Mountie got totaled :( and I was shown it's photos with the whole front end caved in. To this day I wish I had never gotten rid of it and kept it because I think it would not have much trouble doing another 100k miles (it only had 68k). So I just wanted to share my story with you Mercury enthusiasts and see if anyone else had a good of a time with their Mountaineer as I did.
