Completely Dead

Hello everyone and thanks for your advice. My wif was driving our 2002 mountaineer and it just quit in the middle of an intersection. Like the battery just went dead. Towed it to closest auto parts store and said battery was weak but nothing too major. Said alternator was good. I changed battery anyway and tried to start it. Nothing, period, not even a sound. guages come on and that's it. Even if starter was locked etc. wouldn't i hear at least a noise or click? Why do I have absolutly zilch??

Sounds like a fuel pump died.
