I've got a '98 Mercury Mountaineer with what I believe to be a problem with the cat converter. The check engine light came on recently and when I ran the computer scan on it, it came up with a trouble code of P0430, efficiency below threshold. Is it likely that the problem would be with one/all of the oxygen sensors or the cat converters? If problem is with the cat converters, can I take them off and weld a pipe in place? Please advise. Thanks!
