Where is the fuse box in a Mercury Cougar 1999 4 cyl?

My electronic lock button is not working and I would like to check to see if a fuse is the problem, but all I found was a fuse box in the front under the hood (around where the battery is) and some big square box around the upper side of where the pedals are. The big box has screws and I have never seen a fuse box with screws.

I have. But check the little owners manual that comes in the glove box if you still have it.
