Should i get the Mercury Montego or the Ford 500?

Does anyone now about the Mercury Montego? i don`t see it on the road that often. i do see it`s cousin the Ford 500 alot. i like the way the Montego looks, i have gone to the dealship when they are closed and looked at the Ford 500 and the Mercury Montego, and i like both of them, they are pretty much the same car. one a ford and the other a mercury. but i find the montego styling more appealing than the 500. but which one would be better to get? and to the montego owners out there or know someone who owns one are they good cars? or would i have better luck with the 500?

Yes both about the same. Also available in all wheel drive. Ford 500 i think was renamed back to the Taurus because people did not buy enough 500's. If your out looking for a new family sedan look at all the facts first buy wisely. And remember Mercury Name might go the way of Oldsmobile. Keep in mind location of the Ford Dealer and Lincon Mercury dealer. The easiest one to drop the car off at and do they take you to and pick you up at work? Look at both's service departments Clean well lit or grungy and dirty. Good clean service technicians, or guys off of a all night bender? I would take my car to a grungy service department if I knew a good technician that worked there it is not the technicians fault the cleaning crew and painters were not there. But the clean well lit and properly stocked with Ford LM special sercice tools and clean techs you will stand a better chance there.

i like the montego styling better... if you are buying the new 2008 models the names have changed to the taurus and sable ....

Mechanically identical, Merc has better styling, that's what you will pay the little extra for.A Ford is a Ford is a Ford. I personally think the 500 was a Ford marvel. Not quit enough power for a hot-rodder but great all around car, Too bad they changed the transmission, a new 06 would be a great find.Ask about the earlier transmissions
