Hello
I'm starting to experience a vibration when going at 35 miles an hour or so... I gradually accelerate and I get this little weird vibration or something. The tranny overall works great, but it's just this weird problem,,, do you think it's time for me to get a service check up for my tranny? I heard that when this happens I should flush the trannys and torque converter oil... is this true? should I do this flush? I also heard that if I change the oil I can damage the transmission? is this true? What's the cost of this service by the way? thanks everybody.

There was a TSB (technical service bulletin) from Ford to have the fluid changed from the original spec. Dexron fluid to the Mercon V fluid that should resolve the torque converter shudder issue that you appear to be experiencing. Take your car to either the Ford dealer or a transmission shop, drain the fluid from the pan and the torque converter (one 11mm drain plug on the torque converter accessed through the round rubber grommet at the bottom of the bellhousing). Replace the filter (part number FT-105 from Ford). Flush out the cooler lines. Refill with 12 quarts of MERCON V fluid from Ford. That should cure the issue.

I agree with the first poster about checking the u-joints for for binding or wear as well.

i think its the torque converter.. i have a 95 t-bird with the same engine and tranny.. mine makes the same noise... yes get a service check and have it flushed.. it sometimes solves the problem.. use lucas transmission fix.. u can get it at any auto parts store.. (use it after u get the flush)

i got a flush done and it cost 95.00...
