why is my 1993 mercury sable bucking? any ideas?

the car is a auto.3.8L ,idles fine ,all fuids are topped off.But after driving about 3 miles it just starts hesitating & bucking. If it was a manual trans.i'd think i didn't have it in the correct gear. any ideas before i call the junk yard? thanks.

Before you go to the junk yard, get a quick tune up. The spark plugs could be bad who knows it's a 93. It's probably way overdue for a tuneup.

If this is happening as you come to a stop, it may be the vehicle is not dis-engaging from overdrive as you slow down. If it is just a random thing under acceleration, I would check the fuel filter, thats an inexpensive fix and a good place to start.
