i have a 1998 mercury mountaineer. how hard is it to replace the struts?

its squeaks a little when i turn and when i run over a bump it gives a really hard ride and feels like the tires are about to come off.

It would be very difficult considering that vehicle does not have struts. Guess again or have it diagnosed by a professional.
