Mercury Mariner vs Jeep Compass?

Okay, so I've (finally!) narrowed this down to the Jeep Compass or the Mercury Mariner. Both are loaded w/options. I prefer the Mariner, but it is about $2k more than the Jeep. Is it worth it? I told dealership come down another $1,500 and we'll have a deal, and I havent heard back from them.
I test drove the CRV as well. I know it has the best ratings per the experts, but I must confess I found it to be really boring to drive.

Dang.. you have a tough choice lol... both are nice cars... I would honestly say the jeep though... just cuz i used to drive a jeep liberty, and the compass is almost identicle to the liberty.... but lol... i dunnooooo!!!

If your goin for looks though, i would say jeep... people would ooh and ahh more at ur car ;)

The Mariner is a much better vehicle. The Compass is built on the Caliber chassis, and both of those Chrysler vehicles have received very poor reviews in the auto press. Also check out the HOnda CRV. It's the best of the bunch.
