...when the vehicle is parked!? Just need some advice, it's starting to get warm and I don't want to take it to a dealer for them to overcharge me if it's something simple.

the A/C will only work when the car is on and running. of the car is off, it will not function. but if your question states that when the car is in park as opposed to drive then thats an odd problem. the clutch in your compressor could be going. could also be that there is not enough airflow going through the radiator to get cool air to the occupant's compartment.

try adding freon..maybe your running low ..i think i had the same problem..but also check the dial to see if its not broken to where its showing cold but in reality it could be staying in the same place..just pull on it and it should pop right off and see if anything is broken ..if not then just freon should do it...you can buy a can and a pump for like 20 bucks i think ..AutoZone

I know its a late post, but if your condenser fan is not working, it will not blow cold unless your moving. Another point, what is the outside temp?? Here in Louisiana, its been approaching 100 degrees, and when the car sits there, it is not what I consider cold, but its because of the outside temp, and just so much air can be pulled across the coils for cooling.

Oh and one other thing, I just spent close to $1000 to repair my A/C. The compressor popped a seal, and it was just out of warranty! So that is a possibility, but you would have no cooling at all, all the time.

Look for other things that can go wrong bad switches, bad fuses, broken wires, broken fan belt (preventing the pump from turning), or seal failure inside the compressor.
