Default 2010 Mercury Milan LED Taillight repair

My sister has a 2010 Milan, 30K miles and the LED brake and tail lights have failed. The left side lost brake and tail and the right lost brake light. After opening the assembly up I am not paying the 280-460 each for these and devised a way to retrofit standard bulbs as a solution.

I will post details and pictures over the next day or two. Has anyone else devised a retrofit for this ridiculous over engineered and non serviceable item?

I finished one side and doing the other today. If anyone wants a detailed write up PM me and I will provide it, I don't see as much interest as I thought I would in the Thread.

Default Milan tail lights, free repair at Ford dealer

I just received a letter from Ford corporate indicating that all 2010 Milan inner and outer tail lights are eligible for free repair. To me this is very good news!! Both of my tail lights failed at 40,000 miles. I priced them at 375 each and I looked every where. I was actually researching a retro fix when a saw this forum and then my wife wife walked in with the letter from Ford. It is not a recall but it is free and all 2010 Milans are eligible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~!

Her's did not come yet but another friend with one got hers in Saturday but didn't open it.

Default Free replacement

Did the letter say anything about 2011 models? I just spent the money last week to replace my busted taillight...
