Default 2004 Grand Marquis LS auto climate control issue

Hello, I'm new here and have a question about my Grand Marquis. I have the auto climate control system and when I have the A/C, heat, or vent turned on, it blows through the dash vents normally. When I accelerate the airflow get's moved to the floor and then when I release the accelerator, it moves back to the dash again. I know it's a vacuum leak, but not sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated. I included a picture of the auto climate control unit in my car.

It may be a vacuum leak but likely could be the Blend Door Acuator, an electronic piece of the puzzle. It's a cheap part, but unfortunately a bunch of labor to fix -you have to take the dash apart, lowering it entirely. I had this happen on a '97 and my independent repair shop charged about $400 to fix it. If you are really good mechanically you could tackle it yourself, but after I looked at the tutorials, I said "no thanks!".

Theres a bunch of information on lincolnsonline.com and crownvic.net

That's about right for an independent shop or a very honest dealer. Most dealerships would charge the book rate and you'd end up with $700-900 to replace the blend door.
