Default drive shaft - removal after nut

Hello, would like to know how to remove the driveshaft on a merc mariner 40hp 2 stroke. Removed everything, inlcuding nut under gear, but wont budge up. SHall i try to heat the water pump bake housing?

or do i just keep pullng on the drive shaft until it comes out?
